The concept of illustration is so strange. One creates a piece of "art" or design that is completely slave to a fleeting concept. AT least when one works along side a brand they serve the purpose of building up that brand or idea. I feel like illustration, though nice to look at, becomes some what unsubstantial. I enjoy this artist's design sense, but I feel a real difference between the Cd cover design and the work that was done for magazines.( The magazine work being the less interesting) I would love to see a gallery show of this designers work where they work strictly from pure personal intuition.

Here's the thing: You are right that his magazine work lacks a soul and his personal work is the most interesting in that regard. But I would much rather see an illustration by a brilliant artist on a crappy article than something done by a corporate person with an affinity towards Microsoft clip art (Visual Pohloooosh.)
David Carson once was asked to do a design for a magazine article. He read it and thought it was a horrible piece of writing. So instead of "being slave" to it, he decided to change the typeface of the entire article to "wingdings" and sent it back to the client like that. I am sure they never called him back for a job, but he stuck to his guns. True story.
I guess that is why some artists don't illustrate for magazines.
What about band posters? They have an agenda and many illustrators have done incredible work doing posters.

You both have great points. ; )
On your 'About,' you say 'worth while.' I found evidence on the internet of you being able to separate it into two words. It is not typical use, so I think you'd prefer 'worthwhile' or 'worth your while.'
In 'Salvation Army,' you say 'isle.' It is 'aisle.'
In 'Shelter,' there should be a comma after '170,000 people a year.'
In 'Boy Scouts,' you say 'into simply, Scout.' Your options are 'into, simply, Scout' or 'into simply Scout.'
On 'Water Aid,' your first sentence says 'More that' rather than 'More than.' There should also be a comma after 'By purchasing this bottle of water.'
On 'Zambia Springs,' there should be a comma after 'Because in some parts of the world.'
On 'Grid and Pixel,' there aren't enough pictures of Brian Thibodeau.
I can't tell if this is a joke or not.
I think it is.
